HTC Magic Review Roundup
Now that the HTC is out and the UK public have had a chance to look at it up close and personal, here’s a run down of some of the reviews from the various sites
Pcpro HT C Magic Review: 5/6 stars!
Pcpro sang the Magic’s praises, focusing on the great battery life, and lauding the market and its burgeoning greatness. Like the G1, they also pointed out the common criticisms of:
- no 3.5mm headphone jack,
- difficulty doing long emails sans push button keyboard
The review also picked up on things such as lack of zoom in pdf viewing however finished with a great quote.
“More than six months after its first outing, Android at last has a phone to be proud of. The HTC Magic”
T3 also felt that it was the phone that Android had been crying out for. It sang praises at the slimline form factor and the good performance however does comment that it is quite expensive and incorrectly refers to the vodafone contract as being 24 months when actually its an 18 month contract, but I agree that 35 quid a month is a hefty spend for a personal phone.
Despite some inaccuracies regarding the reviewers research(G1′s can’t record video?!?), on the whole they were also impressed by the sleekness and lauded the features for Android, extolling its near iphone deliciousness. The review finishes up by calling the magic a good iphone replacement, if you want something smaller.
Overall, the press here seem to be very happy with the result, with no major issues being called out on. Most would like more multimedia features like a better camera with a flash and meatier memory- however overall the consensus seems to be that they are on the right track.
