Great news,according to mobile today, the bbc is currently testing a service that will allow users to watch live tv from the bbc direct to their handsets. This sounds pretty legitimate as the tmobile twitter blog also mentioned it before it was moved to #tmobile_official and the recent news of flash coming out for android(thanks Android Community!) means the Beeb could well be looking to pioneer this service on android.
