Motorola is back and working developers with blue android

Submitted by Android UK on July 7, 2009 – 10:09 pmNo Comment

Recent reports that Motorola has been courting android developers lends further weight that they are planning a strong comeback to the mobile market.
Interestingly one of the elements of the strategy is to focus on encouraging developers to build apps for android and specific to Motorola’s phone range in return for help selling the apps. Motorola has promised devs special access to service providers stores and even allowing the app to come preloaded on a future Motorola smartphone, which is a huge incentive.

If you want to see what handsets Motorola has planned then Mini suit has released some spy shots of the phone. Motorola’s rumoured morrison handset have been leaked out on the web to mixed reviews.

The bright colours on the keyboard seem to indicate that the handset is clearly being aimed at the lucrative teen and 18 to 35 demographic which Motorola has historically dominated. The gaming type controller on the left of the keyboard may also indicate the motorola marketing gurus are aiming to use focus the handset improving gaming experience which has been mostly ignored by other manufacturers.

Motorola has always played a massive role in the mobile market, producing a lot of the kit that goes into building the network, in fact they were the first company to roll out a gprs network and produce the first gprs handset. Not bad for a company that started out building car radios!

Motorola and android are without doubt a perfect match up- Motorola has always released unique and beautiful handsets however in the past it has been let down by poor user interface and buggy software. I was the proud owner of the popular RAZR phone for about 48 hours before I realised you had to pay 20 quid to buy software to sync your phone with outlook express (something that was free on other phones at the time). For me, a new incarnation of the RAZR with touch screen, better camera and android inside is a delectable thought.
