Vodafone launches Application Idol

Submitted by on August 17, 2009 – 11:12 pmOne Comment

image Attention developers and non developers! Vodafone has started scouring the net for the next great application idea for Android and if your idea is the lucky one you could win a million dollar recording contract £1000.00 in cash and 1 of 10 HTC Magics and most importantly, your application idea could be developed into a full blown Android App!

Unlike Google, the big V is not searching for ready made apps only app ideas so just about anyone can enter!

So for all of you who weren’t lucky enough to have winning entries in our Android Network Awards, then look no further than the  Vodafone Application Competition entry page.

So get those notepads out and start scribbling,  you don’t have long to submit your idea for your dream android app.

Vodafone  have teamed up with News of the World to judge the competition, with Trevor Davies, the NOTW resident blogger posting instructions on how to enter

Nice work Vodafone! Way to build an interest in the Android Platform.

Have you bothered to look at Vodafone’s terms and conditions? If you do, you will feel silly to promote this so blindly.

Whether you win the 1000 BP or not, you sign off the rights to your idea Vodafone, AND you agree to fully indemnify them should there be ANY problems with intellectual property rights.

Say that you have a nice idea and send it to them; if it does not win they do not even give you a prize, but they can write the program nonetheless if the idea was good. Then they can start raking in the money, leaving you out of the loop, but if the program steps on a submarine patent in the US, you cand find you own millions of dollars to Vodafone. You are broke, for good. You got nothing. They sail free.

Nice move, Vodafone. And you, is it not embarrasing to be so gullible?
