Acer joins Alliance and announces Android phone for end of 2009

by Android UK

Acer has announced in a recent press release that it has joined the Open Handset Alliance (the Association that supports Android) and is looking forward to releasing an Android-based phone towards the end of the year.  Acer have a long history of producing really great consumer orientated devices- I have owned several Acer Aspires and even now have an Acer One Netbook.

I can’t help feeling that Acer has joined as  precursor to using Android on its future netbooks, which Asus and various other companies have already demonstrated working prototypes.

I am looking forward to what Acer can bring to the party, but its definitely a case of the more the merrier!
