Samsung is getting ready to launch the Galaxy on the UK O2 network some time this month.  ZDNET were first to break the story that O2 Network users can look forward to getting their mits on the first non HTC Android phone to be released in the UK.

Samsung Galaxy Phone has the right loo

ZDNET got a little bit confused by some of the facts and figures which are were corrected via the Samsung Galaxy press release.

What users can look forward to:

  1. Massive 5MP camera with autofocus and LED flash
  2. 3,2 Inch OLED (Read really clear and low power consumption) HVGA Screen
  3. 3.5mm Headphone jack
  4. Whopping 8GB internal Memory (expandable via Micro SD)
  5. Massive 1500mAh battery (G1 is only 1100!)
  6. All in a package less than 12mm thick

All the above specs compare favourably against the slightly fatter, weaker batteried  HTC Hero which is due out the same time.

Bearing in mind HTC’s revolutionary new UI, I would say that Samsung have really got their work cut out for them.   I am hoping that Samsung still have a few cards up their sleeve which they are planning to spring on us last minute, ( hopefully such as their own customized UI and widget system) otherwise they will really have their work cut out trying to convince users to opt for a specification superior phone equipped with the bog standard Android OS.

(Edit: Sorry about the bad pun in the title but it amused me for a few seconds)
